Once Rik turned around, Billy's eyes widened when he spotted the large rat on the Dane's shoulder under his big hair. Gasping, the guitarist nearly jumped back out of surprise more than shock. If it were Gilly instead of Billy then the drummer would be halfway out of the hotel by now.
"It's a---fucking huge rat! Bønne? You called it--her---Bønne? Ok. Well, she's got lovely big ears and a cute face. I could get used to her."
He stepped forwards once more and just laughed because Billy was half thinking he was about to meet a friend of Rik's. But no. It was a big rat. She was cute though. The Dane liked rats.
"Did you sneak her in your suitcase when you came here?"
"She's a giant seal point rat." Rik picks her up and puts her on his lap. "You have to get used to her."
Bønne's presence wasn't negotiable in a relationship. If Billy didn't like her then they couldn't be together. Rik had a love for rats, always had, and one of the first things he did when he was more stable and had some money was get a pet one.
"You can come pet her. She's friendly." Rik laughed at the question and shook his head. "I always have her with me but I had to wait for her veterinarian papers to get updated before I could bring her to the hotel. Hunter always books a hotel that allows pets."
Rik reached out and took Billy's hand. He's glad that the other guitarist seems at least willing to have her around.
"A giant seal point rat? Not just any old rat then. If I can get used to you speaking Danish to me then I can get used to your pet. She is pretty cute and I like her big, round ears."
Billy wasn't opposed to rats. It was more the fact he didn't know what was moving underneath Rik's fluffy hair. His brother would have screamed though. Moving closer, he gently began petting the soft fur on her head between her ears with his fingers. She was warm and fuzzy.
"She's got lovely fur. Not as nice as your hair but still---she's a cute rat, Rik. As long as she doesn't crawl under our covers when we're sleeping and climb up my leg."
He was joking mainly since she seemed well behaved and Rik loved her. This was obvious by the way she reacted to his touch. God, Gilly though. He'd better not see the rat otherwise all hell would break loose.
"She's a normal rat just bred to be bigger." Rik scooted over so Billy could sit with them. Bønne is curious about this new person. She stands up on her back legs and grabs at his hand with her forepaws.
"I used to let her sleep on the bed with me." Rik laughed because he knew that sounded strange but really it wasn't much different than a cat.
"Hunter already warned me." He gets a devious look. "It does make me want to bring her down to breakfast tomorrow."
"Yeah, I can understand that. She's quite inquisitive, isn't she?"
Billy let her grab at his hand with her forepaws. She really was quite sweet and he was warming up to her temperament quite quickly, even though he wasn't used to small furry animals. Tickling her chin with his finger, he smiled.
"She'll be sharing the bed with us from now on? I don't want her to get squashed when we're fucking though, mate."
That was a worry for the Brit, who loved the idea of her having free reign of their hotel room. He just worried she may get sat on or stepped on when the two boys were playing rough and tumble.
"I dare you, mate. Do it. Gilly will piss his pants."
"Rats are very smart and I've taught her a few tricks."
He just watched the two get acquainted, stroking Bønne's back and then stroking Billy's forearm to get the rat used to the fact that the two men were close.
"She can stay in her cage at night." The idea of her getting hurt caused the Dane to pale a little more than usual but he smiles. "It was more because I'd fall asleep with her out than anything purposeful."
With Billy, Rik's sleep was becoming more regular and that would make it less likely that she'd be left out.
"What do I get if I win this bet?" The Dane looked over at Billy, mischievous and totally ready to cause some trouble. He knew the Hammers would barely even notice. After having her for a year now they were used to the rat being everywhere with the Dane.
"I've heard they're pretty smart. This one seems just as smart as her owner."
Billy nudged Rik playfully in the side softly as he moved to press a quick kiss to the younger man's cheek. Bønne seemed fine with the Brit touching and petting her which caused a wave of relief to wash over Billy because he didn't want to get bitten. The cage seemed a safer bet so that she didn't get squished by the two men, or mainly Billy being clumsy. He did notice Rik pale a little at the thought of poor Bønne getting hurt.
"I'll look after her with you, mate. Don't worry, I won't let block head or the band hurt her or poke fun because you've got a rat. Viktor is probably a pussy underneath all that macho image when it comes to rodents. I've seen him flinch when a wasp buzzes around his head."
As for the bet? Billy thought about it for a moment.
Rik turned and caught Billy's lips for a quick kiss when he pulled away. Let the bastards in the hotel say something. "Do you want to hold her?"
He offered but wasn't pushy. They would have to get used to living together. "She might bite if she's frightened. Some fan came up once and grabbed my hair and she drew blood on them." The rat was well behaved and nice but it was still an animal and reacted when frightened.
Rik gave Billy a playful poke in the stomach with a finger. "Don't I get that anyway? I thought winning a bet got you something you don't normally get."
"Oh--ok. Is there a special way to hold her so that I don't squeeze her too hard or something?"
He wanted to be gentle with her so that she didn't get too frightened and end up biting Billy or scampering back to her owner. Holding out his hands, he looked to the Dane wondering if Bønne would just walk into his outstretched palms on her own. Either way, it would be an experience and he knew he'd have to get used to her if he wanted to remain with Rik.
"No wonder she bit the bastard. No one should tug on this luscious hair, mate."
Billy gently caressing Rik's hair for a moment before holding his palms together once more for Bønne to step on if she wanted to. He giggled at Rik's words regarding the bet. Yeah. It was a pretty poor reward. Or was it?
"She can hold on to you." Rik figured that might be the best until Billy got used to having a rat around. The touch to his hair gets a big grin before he sets Bønne in his lover's hands. "Huh?" Rik thinks for a moment and then laughs quietly as he wraps an arm around Billy's waist. "You want me to be your boyfriend, why don't you find something like that to do for me?"
The Dane looked up and smiled because it wasn't like he was going o lose this bet.
Billy held her gently, allowing her to move on her own accord just exploring his hands, sniffing and feeling her long whiskers tickling against his skin. Oh, she was cute! "Yeah, I think he said it's an American chain of all night diners. They do food all night long which suits our crazy touring hours."
Billy just wanted to treat his Dane to somewhere different and offer him up some tasty food along the way. Did they even have American restaurants in Denmark? The Brit had no idea because there weren't any Denny's in Britain. Not that he knew of anyway. It would just be nice to get away from the large group and be by themselves for a few hours too.
"We can get away from Gilly's bitchy mouth and Viktor's blockheadedness for a while. The place is close by to the hotel. Just a taxi ride away."

The drummer launched himself off his chair and ran towards the counter where the food was. Mick and Weird frowning hearing all the commotion and wondering what Gilly was going on about. Viktor and his crew laughing at Gilly who was now cowering under the food cart.
"Her name is Bønne." Rik says calmly among the cries of rat and managing to keep a completely passive expression. He looked up from the menu with a grin.
"Get back over here." He sighed while stroking his rat. "You're scaring her with all your screaming."
Rik managed to keep his expression neutral despite his eyes lighting up deviously.
Hunter knew all about Rik and his pet rat. Now, he had to go and rescue his man who was currently hiding underneath the food cart, scared. Oh, Gilly. Getting up, Hunter used a napkin to dry off the table where his milk spilled and walked over to where the drummer was crouched down.
"Love? It's ok. Rik's rat, she's very friendly and won't bite you. Come on, Kronblad."
